Fishing Report Roundup

Greetings from the subarctic. It was two below zero this morning on my drive to work, and that was twelve degrees warmer than yesterday. So, with that in mind, on to the bi-weekly reports:

  • Blue Ribbon Flies (1/13) talks about how cold it is, of course that doesn't stop Craig Matthews from bagging a couple of nice trout between tying sessions for various saltwater patterns. Can anything stop Craig Matthews? I swear he is the Chuck Norris of the fly fishing world.
  • Jimmy's report (1/17) focuses on the postives. Actually, it mostly says wait until it warms up a bit.
  • The Fins and Feathers (1/12) group is still suggesting the lower Madison. And they like the Bighorn too.
  • In a report titled "Dead of Winter" Madison River Fishing Company (1/10) suggests the upper Madison. And if that doesn't get you to the river, nothing will.

With these frigid temps and some nearly empty fly boxes, I haven't been too tempted to get out this year. But cabin fever is beginning to get to me. I hope to get out next weekend. Stay warm and dry. And tie a BWO parachute or two.
